“You look better natural & simple” a narrative that sends shivers down my spine. Perhaps, that is why I have such an inconsistent relationship with self-care, especially skin-care.

Now, as I reclaim the lost parts of myself as I practice real healthy self-love, it’s become difficult to stand in front of the mirror. I find myself in tears, wondering how could forces be so cruel to destroy someone’s mind, body, soul, and spirit so much that they end up subconsciously destroying themselves over time

Reconnecting with healthy touch:

Feeling comfortable in your skin can be incredibly difficult especially within the South Asian Diaspora where you’re doing your best to juggle the best of both worlds in a community that isn’t so forgiving or welcoming.

One of the most uncomfortable aspects of reconnecting with my body is allowing my inner teen & child to practice healthy touch without feeling a sense of dread, disconnect, and paralysis. Essentially, normalizing their need for stability & safety without ignoring, denying, avoiding, and shaming them for their basic needs of healthy love & attachment.

My heart is filled with gratitude and warmth to know they’ve had an amazing time finally feeling comfortable for safe self-exploration.
